Facilities Maintenance Associate

Work Schedule:

Standard work hours with the possibility of early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on operational needs.

Hourly Rate:

$29.00 non-exempt

Location:

Parsippany, NJ (Flexibility required for local travel primarily within Sussex, Morris, and Passaic County)

Position Overview:

The Facilities Maintenance Associate plays a vital role in supporting the operations of Catholic Charities and works collaboratively with all CC agencies by ensuring facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming. This position requires a dependable, trustworthy, and service-oriented individual capable of performing a wide range of maintenance, logistical, and support tasks across multiple departments. Strict confidentiality is required in all aspects of this role.

General

Facilities Maintenance:

Perform daily Janitorial duties and minor repairs across facilities as needed. Conduct painting projects and touch-ups to maintain interior and exterior spaces. Move, lift, and arrange furniture as required for daily operations or special needs. Assist with receiving and handling food deliveries and other incoming items.

Administrative & Operational Support

Manage mail responsibilities including pick-up, drop-off, and distribution. Complete minor errands on behalf of the organization or leadership team. Support CC Team with meetings, training needs, including room setup or logistical assistance.

Event & Program Support:

Assist with development-related events, including setup, breakdown, and transportation of materials when needed.

Transportation & External Liaison Duties:

Assist with deliveries to various sites or departments. Interact with local Town Building Departments as necessary for inspections, permits, or facility needs.

Cross Departmental Collaboration

Support Facilities Directors of DPD, SN, and CFCS departments with tasks or projects assigned. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the organization’s mission and operational needs.

  • Perform small service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical and general building maintenance such as:
  • Repairing toilet flush systems, installing seats, installing toilet bowls, and installing toilet room wall fixtures.
  • Installing faucets, faucet washers, cleaning sink drains, toilet drains, and related tasks.
  • Repairing holes in sheetrock and plaster walls, spackling and painting same.
  • Making minor electrical repairs, light switches, replacing bulbs and fixtures, etc.
  • Operating the air conditioning and/or heating system(s).
  • Replacing air conditioning and heating/ventilation filters and cleaning overhead air grilles on a regular basis.
  • Repairing doorknobs, latches, locks and responsible for the keys. Responsible for the building’s security system (if any).
Qualifications:
  • High School/GED
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items (furniture, deliveries, equipment). Valid driver’s license and ability to safely handle deliveries.
  • Basic knowledge of janitorial and building maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Requires reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to support multiple departments and adapt to shifting priorities. Able to interact professionally with staff, visitors, clients, and vendors while performing duties.
  • Regular travel between agency sites may be required depending on organizational needs.
