Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
INPO Accredited - JOURNEYMAN I&C TECHNICIAN Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation – Burlington, KS POSITION SUMMARY
The Journeyman I&C Technician will provide leadership, experience, knowledge and skill to perform maintenance, calibrations, modifications and testing on plant systems and equipment. Technicians have the knowledge and skill to use various test equipment to perform maintenance and provide feedback on procedure corrections, work instruction, walkdowns, job preparation and execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform I&C activities including troubleshooting, surveillance, calibration, repairs, reworks, removal/installation, and preventative maintenance throughout the plant.
- Assist in moderately complex I&C tasks as training progresses, applying knowledge and skills.
- Ensure components and equipment within the system are maintained and operate efficiently, in accordance with plant procedures.
- Develop, prepare, interface with departments, perform, and document assigned activities.
- Brief, lead, and coordinate work crews to complete work safely and efficiently.
- Train and develop personnel in technical knowledge and skills, in accordance with station policies and procedures.
- Assist with administrative duties, including M&TE evaluations, budget input, self‑assessments, procedure development, work orders, and validation.
- Provide walkdowns, peer evaluations, and job critiques.
- Read and understand system prints, schematics, logic diagrams, binary numbering, procedures, and vendor manuals.
- Identify and promptly report incidents, events, deviations, deficiencies or discrepancies relating to plant conditions, Technical Specifications, licenses, permits, or quality programs.
- Upon qualification, perform related tasks such as E‑plan, job critiques, fire watch, confined space, requisitions, walkdowns, and peer evaluations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision or management.
- Regulatory Requirement:
Tech Spec 5.3.1 [ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978]. Contact Licensing prior to deviating from these requirements. - Three years of working experience in instrumentation and controls, with at least one year of related technical training.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and five years of relevant experience (one year in nuclear instrumentation and controls), or Associate's degree in a relevant technical field with four years of relevant experience (one year in nuclear instrumentation and controls), or Bachelor's degree with three years of relevant experience (one year in nuclear instrumentation and controls).
- Relevant experience defined as analog and digital process controls and measurements.
- Relevant technical field includes instrumentation, electrical, electronics, and process controls.
This position requires successful completion of the MASS test (applicable to positions on or before 9/16/2005). Management may require respirator fit and qualification when necessary. A satisfactory work record, including good attendance, is required. This is a bargaining unit position; both bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit employees are encouraged to apply.
