The 2nd Shift Maintenance Engineer maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production and facility equipment in a high-speed bottling and blow mold environment. This role focuses on both proactive and reactive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of manufacturing and conveyor equipment. The engineer performs changeovers, preventive maintenance, and equipment upgrades while adhering to strict safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with production equipment, warehouse bay doors, electrical systems, heating and cooling systems, and other facility equipment, and perform repairs in line with established company standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, including lubrication of machines, conveyor belt replacement, and other routine service tasks according to defined maintenance guidelines.
  • Conduct changeovers on production line equipment to ensure correct setup and minimize downtime during production runs.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers about repair status, with internal customers regarding equipment repair needs, and with supervisors about equipment issues and priorities.
  • Complete preventive maintenance records, work order forms, time-off requests, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Order replacement parts and maintain appropriate parts inventory to support ongoing maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop and work areas, including cleaning up spills, properly disposing of used parts, and placing trash and recyclables in designated containers.
  • Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures, including OSHA and safety requirements, AIB standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, and consistently wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Provide both proactive and reactive maintenance support for manufacturing and conveyor equipment in the bottling plant and adjacent blow mold facility.
  • Work with 480V electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and related industrial equipment as part of regular maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support coverage needs across the maintenance team, including covering for colleagues on vacation, and adjust work priorities as required to meet production demands.
  • Work assigned 2nd shift schedule, maintain regular and predictable attendance, and work overtime as needed to meet workload and production requirements.
  • Travel on foot between the bottling plant and the blow mold facility across an outdoor parking area in varying weather conditions, including hot summers and cold winters.
  • Perform other related maintenance and facility support duties as required to ensure reliable plant operations.
Essential Skills
  • Industrial maintenance experience on production equipment or completion of an associate degree or trade school program in a relevant field.
  • Strong electrical maintenance skills, including experience working with electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting hydraulic circuits and components.
  • Proficiency with pneumatic systems used in industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and related equipment.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, belt replacement, and component inspection on production and conveyor systems.
  • Experience with high-speed bottling, filling, plastics processing, or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to interpret and work with ladder logic and variable frequency drives (VFDs) as part of equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Capability to perform both proactive and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and conveyor equipment.
