Assistant Project Manager

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000

• Independently manage smaller projects or assigned scopes within larger projects, including scope, schedule, and budget tracking
• Execute buyout activities for assigned scopes, including soliciting quotes, negotiating routine vendor pricing, and issuing purchase orders
• Prepare and review submittals; coordinate technical content with the engineering team
• Draft RFIs and coordinate responses among the field, engineering, and design teams
• Price routine change orders and T&M tickets for Project Manager review
• Review labor and material costs weekly; assist the Project Manager with monthly forecasts and WIP reporting
• Maintain project schedules under PM direction and identify schedule slippage early
• Coordinate day-to-day activities with subcontractors; review subcontractor pay applications
• Drive project closeout, including O&M coordination, warranties, and owner training scheduling
• Run OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings under PM oversight
• Mentor Project Coordinators on assigned projects

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressive industry experience (typically 5+ years in lieu of a degree).
• 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction project management, coordination, or field engineerin
• Minimum 1–2 years of direct experience in commercial mechanical or HVAC contracting strongly preferred.

• Bluebeam Revu
• Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
