Role Description
The Electrical Design Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Elk Grove Village, IL. In this role, the engineer will design and develop low voltage power distribution equipment and related systems, producing detailed electrical schematics, layout drawings, and technical documentation. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project requirements, performing load calculations, selecting appropriate components, and ensuring designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.
The engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, manufacturing teams, and sales to support proposals, address technical inquiries, and resolve design issues during production and installation. The role also involves participating in design reviews, identifying opportunities for product improvements, and supporting quality and safety initiatives across projects.
- Candidates should possess strong core skills in Electrical Engineering and Electricity, with a solid understanding of electrical principles and safety standards.
- Candidates should possess applied skills in Electrical Design and Power Distribution, including experience with low voltage systems and related equipment.
- Candidates should possess design-focused skills in Design Engineering, including creating schematics, layouts, and technical documentation using relevant CAD or design tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience in electrical design for power distribution may be considered.
- Experience working with industry codes and standards (e.g., UL 891, UL 67, UL 1558) and familiarity with manufacturing or industrial environments is beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work constructively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site in Elk Grove Village, IL and occasionally visit customer or project locations as needed.
