How you will make an impact (Job Summary):
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, supplier quality, and risk mitigation across direct material categories. The role has a primary focus on electronics and technology-related commodities, including PCBAs, electronic components, semiconductors, SSDs, servers, computing hardware, and cable harnesses, which represent the organization's most strategic and technically complex spend areas.

This position leads supplier selection, negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, capacity planning, and technology roadmaps with key electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers and component suppliers. The Strategic Sourcing Manager collaborates closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Finance to support new product introductions (NPI), supply continuity, and long-term business growth. While the primary emphasis is on electronics and server-related technologies, the role also supports sourcing initiatives across additional material categories, including metals, hardware, plastics, and electromechanical assemblies, as business needs require.

The position is expected to drive supplier performance, strengthen strategic supplier partnerships, and deliver sustainable value through cost, quality, innovation, and risk management.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities):
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and execute category strategies for electronics and technology-related commodities aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct market research, spend analysis, and supplier segmentation to identify sourcing opportunities.
  • Lead supplier selection, qualification, and negotiation for cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Manage long-term supplier agreements and ensure compliance with procurement policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering on material selection, cost optimization, and design-for-manufacturability initiatives.
  • Monitor raw material market trends and establish cost mitigation strategies, including hedging or alternate sourcing.
  • Track supplier KPIs (quality, cost, delivery) and drive continuous improvement and risk management programs.
  • Support cross-functional projects such as new product introduction, value engineering, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in placing purchase order.

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education):
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

  • Required Experience:

    6-9 years of procurement, category, strategic sourcing management experience, preferably in electronics and technology-related commodities, including PCBAs, electronic components, semiconductors, SSDs, servers, computing hardware.
  • Experience with supplier negotiations, contract management, and strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven record of achieving cost savings, process improvements, and supplier performance enhancement.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Strong knowledge of electronics and technology-related commodities, including PCBAs, electronic components, semiconductors, SSDs, servers, computing hardware.
  • Understanding of cost drivers, manufacturing processes, and quality systems for metals and plastics.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and sourcing tools (Oracle, SAP, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple functional areas.
  • Results-driven, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education &

Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field required.

Travel & Working Environment:
