Compensation: $75,000 - $90,000

Position Type: Full-Time

Expected Hours/Days of Work: Monday through Friday, normal daytime business hours. Able to travel with short notice. Elk Grove Village, IL on site.

This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in POP / Store Fixtures / Retail Store Environments / Merchandising Solutions industries to assist in the design and development of new products, improvements of existing products, test or other related design initiatives.

• · Create engineering concepts, 3D models, and necessary detail drawings (part and assembly) related to projects, completing necessary tolerance studies and utilizing GD&T and sound engineering judgment.
• · Creating and updating BOM (all stages prototype to production) and complete engineering drawings packages.
• · Familiarity with ECR/ECN process supporting the existing lines of products.
• · Ability to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment while simultaneously standardizing and improving document control processes.
• · Maintaining clear versioning and documents organization over the lifespan of each project.
• · Defining all quality and manufacturing requirements prior to transferring a product into production
• · Familiarity with common manufacturing processes including wood fabrication, sheet metal or wire fabrication, plastic fabrication / machining and assembly (DFMA)
• · Knowledge of material properties and material selection techniques, including strength of materials analysis, process limitations, and relative costs analysis.
• · Strong creativity and cognizant skills needed for proper interpretation of initial renderings or 3D models and the subsequent development of product which meets budget, aesthetic, and functional requirements (form
  -fit-function)
• · Strong verbal and written communication skills required to effectively interact with engineers, creative staff, designers, account executives / project managers, supply chain
• ·(communicate with vendors as necessary during production phase) and cross-functional team members
• · Understanding of retail systems used by retailers – Lozier / Madix / H Frame Pallet Rack etc. to design, enhance and adapt merchandising solutions.

• · BS degree in Engineering, Industrial Design or similar is preferred plus minimum 2 years of the industry experience.
• · Background in design and manufacturing
• · Experience with Solid Works (drafting-3d modeling –BOM) or other parametric CAD systems

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and printers. The following physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift/push/pull office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Available to travel on short notice.
