The Village of Elk Grove Village is seeking a third or fourth-year Environmental or Public Health college student to assist the Community Development Department’s Environmental Health Division during the summer of 2026. Elk Grove Village is located in the Chicago suburbs, bordering O’Hare International Airport, and is home to 33,000 residents and 3,600 businesses that make up the largest business park in the Midwest.
Interested applicants should be enrolled in an Environmental Health or Public Health curriculum. This is a paid position, which will provide the successful applicant with an excellent opportunity to observe and participate in various Environmental Health related projects.
Key Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and unannounced inspections related to food safety, sanitation, property maintenance, vector control, pest control, environmental pollution, and solid waste.
- Prepare inspection reports, correspondence, and respond to public inquiries related to Village Code requirements.
- Perform other duties related to the Environmental Health Division and Community Development Department, as assigned.
- Must be currently enrolled in college and working toward an undergraduate Environmental or Public Health degree.
- Third or fourth-year college student preferred.
- Ability to work five (5) days, 37.5 hours per week.

Summer Seasonal employees will accrue one (1) hour of paid leave for every forty (40) hours worked.
