Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

• Purchase equipment, materials, supplies, and subcontracted services used throughout the company
• Track and expedite purchase orders through production and shipping to ensure timely delivery
• Coordinate with applicable departments on assigned commodity procurement
• Contact approved suppliers for pricing and delivery information
• Monitor and expedite supplier orders for outside services and materials
• Generate purchase orders in the ERP system following established procedures
• Track purchase orders through production and shipping using the ERP system
• Monitor current and incoming stock availability to determine purchase quantities and schedules
• Resolve late deliveries, shortages, and quality problems; alert the Purchasing Manager when needed
• Ensure rejected materials are processed and dispositions are handled promptly
• Work to reduce costs and improve delivery and purchasing methods
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
• Work with the production scheduler to maintain and update the shop floor production schedule
• Advise Production of purchase-related work issues or concerns
• Communicate with the Supervisor and others to receive instructions and coordinate job activities
• Perform job functions according to quality and performance standards
• Use basic office equipment, including copier, scanner, computer, printer, and phone system
• Review, qualify, and recommend potential new suppliers as needed
• Follow other job-related instructions and duties as requested

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience purchasing/buying within a metal manufacturing environment
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Capable of working well independently and as part of a team
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Able to perform tasks within the company’s ERP system;
  Epicor preferred
• Professional Procurement Certification (APICS, CPM, CPSM) preferred
• Basic blueprint reading and metalworking experience preferred
• Ability to communicate with others
• Accommodation as required for reading documents, prints, computer screens, and quality instruments

Demonstrates expertise in procurement processes, including negotiating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, and utilizing ERP systems like Epicor. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for coordinating with departments and resolving supply chain issues.
