Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CMM Programmer/Operator to join our dynamic quality team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, operating, and inspecting parts using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), as well as supporting in-process inspection on the shop floor using precision gauges and measurement tools. This role requires a strong understanding of quality inspection techniques, mechanical knowledge, and proficiency with various measuring instruments, and ensures that all parts conform to design specifications and quality standards throughout manufacturing.
ResponsibilitiesProgramming & Measurement
- Create & Modify Programs: Develop and edit CMM programs using software like Calypso, incorporating details such as part numbers, versions, and revision levels for accurate record-keeping.
- Operate CMM: Run CMMs to perform dimensional inspections on components, verifying compliance with blueprints, tolerances, and GD&T specifications.
- In-Process Inspection: Support quality checks on the shop floor during production runs, ensuring parts meet process and print specifications.
- Utilize Measurement Tools: Use various measurement tools, including Sunnen gage, comparators, federal gages (±0.00050), calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and other precision instruments.
- Fixturing: Identify and implement necessary fixture and tooling for the efficient measurement of parts.
- Record & Report Results: maintain accurate inspection data, complete reports such as First Article Inspection (FAI/AS9102 FAIRs), and ensure traceability.
- Document Results: Maintain accurate records of inspection data and processes, including the completion of reports like First Article Inspection (FAI) reports.
- Adhere to Standards: Follow quality assurance protocols and industry standards, such as the AS9100 quality management system.
- Problem Solving: Identify quality issues and recommend potential solutions to improve product quality.
- Teams Support: Work collaboratively manufacturing staff, and other inspectors to resolve issues and support deadlines.
- CAD Integration: Use CAD software to review part specifications and integrate designs into CMM programming.
- CMM Programming Proficiency: Strong background in creating, modifying, and running CMM programs (Zeiss Calypso experience preferred).
- GD&T Expertise: Skilled in interpreting and applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Inspection Competence: Able to perform first Article, in-process, and final inspection in accordance with quality procedure.
- Precision Measuring
Skills:
Firsthand experience with precision instruments and gauges such as Sunnen, Comparator, Federal gage (±0.00050), micrometers, height gauges, and calipers. - Technical Documentation: Familiar with quality documentation practices, traceability, and data recording systems.
- Problem-Solving: Able to support manufacturing with dimensional analysis, inspection reports, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
