Custodial Worker - Buildings and Grounds

Great Basin College is recruiting for a full-time Custodial Worker 2 for the Buildings and Grounds department located in Elko, NV.

• Cleaning facilities, emptying garbage cans, shampooing and buffing floors.
• Repairing and maintaining janitorial equipment.
• Making minor repairs to plumbing fixtures.
• Assisting with grounds maintenance such as fertilizing landscaping, snow removal, and painting.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education.
• One (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; or
• Six (6) months of general work experience and one (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; or
• Six (6) months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; or
• An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
• Valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license.
• Subject to pre‑employment screening for controlled substances.
• Position identified as affecting public safety pursuant to NRS 284.4066.

Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00am to 12:30pm (subject to change based on organizational needs).

Grade 23 with salary classified in step. Salary placement above Step
01 determined by recruitment, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. Accelerated salary must be approved by Human Resources.
