Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a hardworking and detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer at Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Ellsworth/Bar Harbor. This role involves maintaining the buildings, adhering to safety policies, and performing routine cleaning tasks.

• Respond to maintenance requests and perform repair tasks across the property.
• Use cleaning supplies and equipment to keep interior spaces clean and professional.
• Maintain all mechanical items in guestrooms and public areas.
• Respond to repair requests promptly and professionally.
• Adhere to company safety policies to create a safe work environment.
• Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by facility management.
• Keep workstations and equipment clean, organized, and in good working order.
• Operate and maintain vessels for hot water, kitchen steam, and air conditioning.
• Operate and maintain low‑pressure boiler.
• Operate and maintain high‑pressure boiler for the laundry operations.
• Know how to turn on/off and adjust all HVAC systems, including the Energy Management Systems.
• Know the locations of all sprinkler zone valves.
• Understand all emergency service switches and shut‑off valves for electrical feeders, incoming water lines, and natural gas lines.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Work throughout all inside and outside areas of the hotel, including exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Examine and manage exposure to hazardous chemicals.

• Detail oriented with good judgment in creating a professional environment.
• Must be able to work onsite at the location.
• Full‑time schedule of 30–40 hours per week, flexible 5‑day week.
• Proficiency in the English language.
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, lift/push up to 10 pounds consistently, and up to 75 or more pounds occasionally.
• Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.

$20.00 hourly.
