Environmental Services Technician - Ellsworth

The Jackson Laboratory, located in Ellsworth, ME, is currently seeking applicants for the position of Environmental Services Technician. Working under moderate supervision, the Environmental Services Technician’s primary responsibility is cleaning properties owned or leased by The Jackson Laboratory to promote the health and safety of visitors and employees.

Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, bathrooms, common spaces, lobbies, kitchenettes and dining commons, offices, residential housing units, etc., using established JAX practices and procedures.
• Clean, dust, and wipe vertical and horizontal surfaces including furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill dispensers.
• Respond to major spills or other cleaning crises.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies, wearing PPE, handling recycling materials, etc.
• Use ladders when required in work assignments.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to walk 20,000 steps daily or approximately 10 miles during the course of duties.
• Self‑motivated with ability to organize time effectively, manage details and provide excellent client service skills.
• Ability to understand written or verbal instructions and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
• Effective interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people and personalities representing internal clients and external suppliers.
• Ability to present oneself in a positive manner through appearance, attitude and behavior.
• Ability to use computers and basic business computer programs (e‑mail, web, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).

Pay rate: $19.50 per hour.
