Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician II performs skilled maintenance and repair work across multiple RGA locations. This role is responsible for maintaining safe, functional, and accessible environments for people supported and staff.

The technician will complete a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general facility upkeep. This position also supports agency operations through event setup, property transport, emergency response, and renovation projects.

This role requires travel to multiple sites, use of personal tools and vehicle, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

Maintenance & Operations
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building systems
  • Complete assigned work orders within designated timelines
  • Troubleshoot and repair appliances, fixtures, and structural components
  • Assist with renovations, painting, concrete work, wall repair, and internal moves
  • Support event setup, property transport, and emergency janitorial needs
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies
  • Conduct landscaping and coordinate pest control efforts
Safety & Compliance
  • Perform regular inspections to identify safety and security issues
  • Ensure all systems and environments meet safety standards
  • Test and recommend maintenance products and solutions
Leadership & Accountability
  • Conduct preventive maintenance walkthroughs at assigned sites
  • Communicate incomplete or deferred work to supervisor promptly
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and coordinate repairs
  • Provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff when needed
Team Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with Facilities Management team on projects
  • Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings
  • Support agency-wide maintenance initiatives
Advocacy & Service
  • Respond to maintenance requests from staff and people supported
  • Ensure facilities remain accessible, safe, and supportive of diverse needs
Community & Vendor Partnership
  • Partner with internal programs to meet facility needs
  • Coordinate with approved vendors for specialized repairs and services
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Licensure
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License required
Experience
  • 5–7 years of related maintenance experience preferred
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Proficiency in one or more trades: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry
  • Ability to:
    • Lift up to 75 pounds
    • Carry up to 50 pounds
    • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach overhead
    • Walk up to one mile as needed
  • Comfortable using tools and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to travel between sites throughout DuPage County
  • Must maintain own tools and reliable transportation
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation and work overtime as needed
Work Environment & Expectations
  • Travel required across multiple RGA locations
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments
  • On-call responsibilities on a rotating basis
  • Use of personal vehicle and tools required
Additional Requirements
  • Must pass background check and maintain an acceptable driving record
