Position Title: Special Education Teacher (Middle School)
Terms of Employment: Teacher Work Year (181 Attendance Days)
Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal
Salary: Starting $52,000 (PerEPET 2024 - 2028 Contract)

Maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living.
Qualifications- Professional Educator License
- LBS1 Endorsement
- Conduct assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students to identify learning issues and recommend corrective procedures.
- Participate in PPTs and assist in developing Individual Educational Plans (IEP) for students.
- Assist students and teaching staff in implementing IEPs and behavior management plans.
- Coordinate with outside agencies, organizations, and institutions, including state and federal authorities.
- Coordinate with administrators and other teaching staff to ascertain individual student abilities and needs.
- Serve as resource to students and parents, providing counseling to promote personal growth and behavioral management; liaison between home and school.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, conducting research, and maintaining professional relationships.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate record‑keeping and provide student information to prospective colleges and employers per district procedures and laws.
- Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Assist in orientation of new teachers and provide in‑service training in guidance.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, aids, supplies, and equipment; maintain inventory records.
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computer, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel RequirementsTravels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
