Senior Resident Engineer Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois
- 15+ years of professional engineering experience
- Demonstrated success as a Resident Engineer on major transportation projects
- Current applicable DOT certification
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Senior Resident Engineer Preferred Background & Skills
- Strong marketing or business development mindset
- Excellent organizational change management skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and foster collaboration across functions
Senior Resident Engineer Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Oversee construction and inspection teams on buildings, roads, and bridge projects to ensure compliance with client requirements and company standards
- Provide expert guidance, technical leadership, and mentorship to staff
- Manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring on-time and on-budget execution
- Act as a key point of contact with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and issue resolution
- Chair pre-construction and progress meetings, review monthly pay estimates, and recommend approvals
- Coordinate quality control, safety, materials testing, and documentation for assigned projects
- Support business development activities and contribute to marketing efforts to grow client relationships
