Position Title: Campus Monitor (High School) - Evening Shift (Anticipated)
Terms of Employment: 10 Month Position
Immediate Supervisor: Building Administration and Deans
Salary: Per PSRP Contract - $21.00/hour
Responsibilities- Patrol the school building to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors under general supervision of the Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and Deans.
- Manage the Main Entrance Security Desk, supervise students, and conduct security patrols of the building and grounds.
- Enforce Board of Education policies regarding smoking, parking, loitering, trespassing, theft, vandalism, property damage, alcohol, and drug use; uphold school rules and regulations.
- Take corrective action as needed and report concerns or incidents to the Principal, Director of Facilities, law enforcement, and other required parties.
- Encourage appropriate student conduct and assist visitors with directions while preventing unauthorized access.
- Monitor exits and prevent unauthorized exits of the building by students.
- Check student passes during classes; escort students to and from classrooms, offices, and other areas as directed.
- Assist school administrators with attendance, tardies, and investigations as assigned.
- Separate students involved in altercations and manage crowd control as needed, using reasonable force in accordance with Board policy.
- Perform other duties related to student, staff, and school safety as assigned by building and district administrators.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Successful experience in security and/or law enforcement
- Experience working with adolescents
- Illinois Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of building security and safety best practices; familiarity with OSHA and electronic surveillance laws
- Knowledge of security and alarm systems and related devices
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders and coordinate with principal, security guards, and others
- Ability to describe security problems in writing or orally; problem-solve safety issues
- Ability to report work to supervisor as required; establish cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and local law enforcement
- Ability to provide clear oral and written instructions and supervise appropriately
Use computers, related equipment, and radio communications equipment.
Safety RequirementsFollow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing building security and safety.
Travel RequirementsOccasional travel may be required.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
- Physical ability to separate students involved in altercations using appropriate methods
