A General Maintenance engineer will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, and front‑of‑house areas. This includes entry‑level preventative maintenance in guest rooms and public areas. The role also involves performing repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment requiring skills and experience in these areas as well as good communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Routine Maintenance:
- Perform regular inspections of the hotel premises and equipment to identify and address maintenance issues.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other mechanical equipment.
- Ensure the hotel’s interior and exterior are well‑maintained and in good repair.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components and fixtures.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and hotel policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
- Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
- Equipment Management:
- Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Recommend the purchase of new equipment and supplies as needed.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and properly stored.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure maintenance issues are resolved promptly.
- Assist in training and supervising junior maintenance staff as needed.
- Participate in meetings and provide input on maintenance‑related issues.
- Guest Service:
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and courtesy when interacting with guests.
- Address guest complaints and maintenance requests promptly and effectively.
- Ensure that all guest areas are safe and comfortable.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, confined spaces).

- Minimum of one year of building maintenance experience; hotel experience preferred.
- Good customer service skills required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in a related field preferred.
- Experience in maintenance, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The hourly rate for this position is $24.
