The Custodian‑Floater is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and healthy environment at a variety of sites throughout the District.

The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as Open/Promotional. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications are provided with a study guide and then complete an online multiple choice test. Permanent employees of the district who pass the test are placed on an eligibility list and are interviewed for vacancies as they occur. External candidates who pass the test are placed on another eligibility list and are interviewed for vacancies as they occur once the permanent employee list is exhausted.

The eligibility list is used to fill vacancies within a six‑month period. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, the candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel.
