- Empty and clean waste receptacles; replace liners; pick up litter on library grounds.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms; monitor and restock custodial supplies.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in entryways, reading rooms, offices, restrooms, and meeting spaces.
- Dust and wipe down bookshelves, tables, chairs, and computer stations.
- Assist in setting up or breaking down chairs, tables, and equipment for programs or events.
- Clean and reset meeting rooms after use.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces.
- Sanitize public computer keyboards, mice, and countertops.
- Sweep exterior walkways and library entrances.
- Assist with minor repairs and report maintenance issues to the Library Director.
- Maintain cleanliness of book return drop box.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the use of various cleaning chemicals.
- Knowledge of custodial maintenance equipment repair and maintenance principles.
- Skill in operating cleaning equipment.
- Skill in following instructions.
- Skill in prioritizing work.
Guidelines include safety rules and regulations and other city policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects and utilizes the sense of smell.
The work is typically performed in district buildings. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt and irritating chemicals. The work requires use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
Contacts are typically with coworkers and the general public.
