The Downtown Lead Custodian will lead and perform custodial services for the Facility Management Division. Facility Management is responsible for maintaining Public Works, Community Centers, Emergency Services Training Center, Eugene Downtown Core, and several Police substations and facilities. This position is currently assigned to the Downtown crew, which primarily performs work in and around the downtown parking facilities.

Salary$23.01 - $28.63 hourly / $47,860.80 - $59,550.40 Annually
The City of Eugene determines starting pay within the range based on relevant education and experience as provided by the applicant in their application materials. This process is consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act (OEPA). Acting in Capacity Pay is determined based on the applicable collective bargaining agreement or Administrative Policies Manual (APM). Pay placement will be the minimum of your current pay so long as it is not above the maximum of the Acting in Capacity salary range.
If you are in a position that is at the same salary range as the Acting in Capacity assignment you are applying for, there may be no change in pay for the Acting in Capacity assignment.

Limited Duration Position- This Limited Duration position could last up to 12 months per business need.
- If you are a current Limited Duration employee, you will not have rights back to your Limited Duration position.
- Employees hired into Limited Duration positions will be members of the AFSCME bargaining unit and covered by the contract except for items outlined below:
- Limited Duration employees are at-will and do not have a probationary period; they accrue no seniority, have no bumping or layoff provisions, and have no discipline or discharge rights.
- This Acting in Capacity position could last up to 12 months per business need. At the end of the assignment, you will return to your regular position.
- You must meet the minimum qualifications for the Acting in Capacity position.
- You must receive permission from your supervisor to apply.
- If you are on probation, it may impact supervisory approval to apply for this opportunity.
- If you are currently a member of a union, you will continue to be represented during this AIC position.
- General custodial duties including trash removal, pressure washing, biohazard cleanup, keeping areas free of debris, and other general custodial work in and around downtown parking structures, downtown core area and other city facilities.
- Leads the work of custodians; organizes, schedules, assigns, and inspects work of employees.
- Plans, organizes and leads short and long-term custodial projects.
- Plans and presents training sessions to custodial workers on safe working procedures and methods and in use and care of supplies and equipment.
- Assists in developing and implementing work procedures and standards.
- Uses Microsoft Outlook and Excel for communicating and recordkeeping.
- Uses online timekeeping system and trains employees on use of system.
- Supports and respects diversity in the workplace.
- Maintains records and reports on operations.
- Schedules, oversees, and performs graffiti abatement, painting, preventive maintenance, minor carpentry work, and repairs of plumbing, doors, and hardware.
- May assist with grounds-keeping duties such as watering, fertilizing, and planting shrubs; minor irrigation repairs; maintains exterior(s).
- Orders and maintains inventory and records of supplies, equipment, and materials; works with vendors to identify most cost-effective equipment, supplies, and materials.
