The Hayward Field Trades Maintenance One position works in the Athletic Facilities unit, primarily at Hayward Field. At times the employee will perform work at other Athletic Facilities and at off‑site locations where athletic events take place.
The position involves a broad range of Trades maintenance tasks, including painting, plumbing repairs, mechanical repairs, carpentry repairs, and minor electrical work. The employee also performs grounds maintenance duties such as pressure washing, mowing, edging, weeding, fertilizer application, blowing of grounds, sweeping, and surface cleaning. Additionally the employee assists with event set‑up, tear‑down, and event support for all events that take place at Hayward Field and other facilities as needed.
Event support includes setting up tables, chairs, track equipment, barricades, signage, rope, staging, and other event‑related equipment. The employee will also assist with janitorial needs throughout the facility.
- Must qualify for and maintain a UO driver’s certification, including a valid driver’s license throughout employment.
- Willingness to work a flexible/irregular schedule and as a member of the Essential Services Team.
- Must obtain UO Forklift certification within 90 days of employment.
- One year of experience working in facilities maintenance.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of this position as listed in the "Working Conditions" section.
- Ability to perform major duties and operate necessary equipment as outlined in this posting.
- Computer skills: ability to send and receive email.
- Ability to understand and provide clear verbal and written communication to faculty, staff, and students with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to interface and work effectively in a team environment with co‑workers, customers, vendors, and university staff, focusing on customer service.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision and willingness to collaborate as a team when necessary.
- Ability to operate and respond to 2‑way radio communication.
- Ability to prioritize work duties and adapt to requests from Hayward occupants.
- Two years of documented experience working in Facility Maintenance.
- One year of documented experience in Grounds or Janitorial Maintenance.
- Experience setting up, working, and tearing down events.
- Documented forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift experience.
FLSA Exempt.
