Founded in 1924, the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) isthe third oldest marine laboratory on the Pacific Coast. The
130-acre campus located about two hours from Eugene maintainshousing, teaching, and research facilities for University of Oregonstudents and faculty as well as visiting investigators and students from other institutions. Resident faculty are members of the Biology department and conduct research on the development,ecology, evolution, and physiology of marine organisms worldwide from the intertidal zone to the deep sea.

The Trades Maintenance Worker 1 (TMW1) supports the maintenance and operation of facilities at the University of Oregon's Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) campus. This position assists with a variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic mechanical systems, under the guidance of higher-level staff.

The TMW1 provides general support for facilities and groundsupkeep, including assisting with minor repairs, preparing surfacesfor painting, moving materials and equipment, pressure washing,landscaping, and debris removal. This position may also assist withfurniture and fixture repairs, basic shop support, and classroom orlab setup.

Work is performed both independently on assigned tasks and as partof a team, with direction provided by the Facilities Manager orhigher-level maintenance staff. The TMW1 follows established procedures and guidelines while developing skills across multiple trades. Daily interactions with faculty, staff, and students occurwhile responding to maintenance needs and supporting campusoperations.

Due to the nature of the OIMB campus, work occurs in a variety ofindoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to inclementcoastal weather and physically demanding conditions. This position may occasionally assist with campus safety checks and supportessential operations during emergencies or inclement weather.

• This position may drive a university vehicle and typically requires a valid driver's license and ability to obtain UO Driver'sCertification.

• One (1) year of general building maintenance experience in one ormore of the following trade areas: carpentry, electrical,mechanical, painting, plumbing, and/or welding.
