Description
Y.O.U. seeks volunteers to help with After school and Academic Year programs. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who want to enhance their understanding of youth development, impact youth lives, and/or gain community service credit.
Volunteers will work with youth at our school site programs. Opportunities for those interested in STEAM could be assigned to our Maker Space located at Y.O.U. Headquarters.
Timeframe: September 14, 2026 - December 11, 2026
Days/Times: Monday through Friday, 2 pm to 6 pm
Schedule: Consistent hours requested, open for consideration
Volunteer Responsibilities- Assists summer staff in facilitating activities for a group of up to 15 students through social, emotional, and academic enrichment programs designed to support elementary or middle school students.
- Supports planning and delivery of lessons that focus on literacy skill development, sports, STEAM, social‑emotional enrichment, and healthy relationships.
- Provides support during field trips and other off‑site activities.
- Builds positive relationships with youth that support their success and well‑being.
- Supervises youth during program hours in a safe, sensitive, developmentally‑appropriate, positive manner.
- Assists youth in building healthy, positive relationships with each other, with adults, and with their families.
- Demonstrates professional behavior that supports team efforts and enhances team behavior, performance, and productivity.
- Supports Y.O.U. staff during the summer program.
- 18 years or older
- Commit to volunteering during the summer session with a consistent schedule
- Complete a fingerprint background check and other requirements
- Complete mandated reporter training
- Proven record of dependability
- Have a passion for Y.O.U.’s mission
- Possess an open, non‑judgmental attitude
Volunteers will receive an orientation and training in youth development practices and strategies to support their work.
