We’re hiring an art teacher to join our Beit Sefer (religious school) teaching team starting this fall! Teaching religious school is a meaningful opportunity to impact young people’s lives while being part of a warm, collaborative faculty community.
At Beit Sefer, learners gain confidence to engage with Jewish texts, traditions, and prayers that support them in their lives right now. This year, we are placing a special emphasis on the arts as a powerful expression of Jewish learning and community. Beth Emet’s year will culminate in an arts and music festival celebrating the creativity of our community, including our learners and teachers.
We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic artist and educator who is excited to help shape meaningful Jewish art experiences for children and teens in our dedicated art room. We are committed to high‑quality, process‑rich art projects that invite learners to explore Jewish ideas, holidays, Hebrew, and self‑expression through hands‑on creativity.
What You’ll Do- Teach art experiences for a specific age group of learners in a part‑time religious school setting
- Use our dedicated art room to facilitate engaging, thoughtful, and age‑appropriate projects connected to Jewish learning and community life
- Collaborate with the Director of Lifelong Learning and teaching team to plan meaningful projects and contribute to our arts and music festival
- Communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with teachers and madrichol (teen leaders)
- Grow your teaching practice through teacher meetings and professional development opportunities
- Manage the art room schedule, projects, and materials
The ideal candidate is available on Sunday mornings (9:30 am – noon) and Thursday afternoons (4:15‑6:15 pm) when our sessions take place. However, we are willing to be flexible for the right person.

Jewish knowledge and experience are welcome but not required.

- We are invested deeply in arts programming, including our dedicated art space, 1–2 teen madrichol to work with the art teacher, collaborative planning, and opportunities for innovation and creativity across age groups.
- Pay is commensurate with experience and includes professional development, support, and prep time as part of a holistic package. We take into account the number of days you’re working and your past experience.
- The school year runs September 2026 through May 2027, with training in late August.
