Position Summary

Our Non-Public Special Education School, Sola Academy, has an opening for a Special Education Teacher. This position provides a student-centered, supportive classroom that promotes compassion and tolerance, emotional security, resourcefulness, and independent critical thinking while addressing the individual academic and emotional needs of each student through Sola's differentiated approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group teaching experiences in Math, Science, Social Studies, and/or English. Math and Science experience preferred but not required.
  • Show evidence of adapting and differentiating instruction for all students and create a classroom forum for holistic growth.
  • Maintain complete and accurate student and teacher records.
  • Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent parent and teacher communication.
  • Contribute to and benefit from the campus community.
  • Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement.
  • Include significant student mentoring beyond subject tutoring.
  • Other duties as assigned, including part-time tutoring.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, with a higher-level Math background.
  • Current Illinois PEL; LBS1 (Grades 6-12 must be covered in licensure).
  • Outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
  • Florida residents require Level 2 background screening through the Florida Clearinghouse.
