This position is for the 2026‑2027 school year and reports to the Building Principal.

Responsibilities
  • Adapt classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
  • Administer tests and language assessments to evaluate students’ language ability.
  • Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress, communicate expectations, discuss achievements, and develop methods for improvement or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  • Assess student progress toward objectives, expectations, and/or goals, and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve overall quality of student outcomes and achieve established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  • Direct assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of individual students.
  • Monitor students in a variety of educational environments (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips, nap times) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Prepare a variety of written materials in both English and Spanish (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
  • Provide instruction in both English and Spanish to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans.
  • Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g., other teachers, parents, administrators) to resolve issues and provide information or direction.
Other Functions
  • Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse) to maintain personal safety of students, provide a positive learning environment, and adhere to Education Code and school policies.
  • Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct appropriate personnel for resolution.
Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Master’s degree preferred

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Professional Educators License (PEL)
  • Designated Subject Matter Endorsement

    Required:
    • Bilingual Education Teacher – Spanish
    • Transitional Bilingual Educator (TBE)

Experience

Required:

  • Job‑related experience is required.
  • High levels of proficiency in both English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Expertise in using best instructional practices, such as standards‑based teaching, instructional assessment, cooperative learning, and differentiated instruction.
  • Integrating multicultural concepts across the curriculum.
  • Skilled in teaching diverse students.
Compensation and Benefits (2026‑2027 school year)

Minimum starting salary with Bachelor’s degree: $56,920 (includes District paid TRS pension) – pro‑rated to start date.

Minimum starting salary with Master’s degree: $62,042 (includes District paid TRS pension) – pro‑rated to start date.
