Position
Paraprofessional (SY26/27) – 2 positions – Job – Haven Middle School.
Responsibilities- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support classroom objectives.
- Administers tests, homework, make‑up work, etc. in support of teachers.
- Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional (diapering, tube feeding, colostomy bag care, medication administration, etc.).
- Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students in maintaining personal hygiene.
- Attends meetings and in‑service presentations (first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, etc.) to acquire and share information relevant to job functions.
- Communicates with supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
- Implements, under teacher supervision, behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions.
- Maintains instructional materials and electronic records to ensure availability and meet mandated requirements.
- Monitors students during assigned periods in various school environments (rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots, etc.) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Provides, under teacher supervision, instruction to students in individual and group activities (academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills, etc.) to reinforce instructional objectives and IEP plans.
- Performs related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.
- Works under direct supervision with standardized procedures; leads, guides, and coordinates others; may utilize resources from other work units to perform job functions.
- Education required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a job‑related area.
- Certificates and licenses: Must hold one of the following – Professional Educator License, Substitute Teaching License, Educator License with Stipulations (TBE), or Educator License with Stipulations (PARA).
- Experience preferred: Job‑related experience or targeted education with study in a job‑related area.
Minimum starting salary with a license – Middle School (6.5 hours per day) – Step 1 / $29,221.73.
