The Educator - Individualized Education Services provides services to students with identified educational disabilities. Responsibilities include managing a caseload, developing and monitoring the Individual Education Plan (IEP) progress, adapting curriculum to meet student needs, using instructional technology and adaptive equipment, and meeting Common Core Standards. Experience with co-teaching in core academic subjects and collaborating with a team is required. This position reports to the Principal.

Responsibilities

• Administers developmental testing programs and subject-specific assessments to assess student competency levels and/or develop individual learning plans.
• Advocates for student needs and ensures timely implementation of IEP components (e.g., Behavior Intervention Plans, Health Care Plans) to support students in an educational setting.
• Assesses student progress toward objectives and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Collaborates with parents, administrators, related service providers, and other professionals to develop IEPs (including Behavior Intervention Plans) to promote students’ educational, physical, and social development.
• Commits to equity and eliminating systemic obstacles for students of color to provide access to interventions and opportunities.
• Communicates with administration and with parents/outside providers to share information and fulfill professional responsibilities.
• Completes Medicaid logging for documenting personal care and transportation services.
• Counsels students to improve performance, health status, problem-solving techniques and personal issues.
• Creates, writes, monitors, and facilitates IEPs for students on caseload to address individualized academic and social-emotional needs.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to physical, medical, and learning styles to support students with identified disabilities.
• Implements classroom and subject-specific strategies to address individual student requirements.
• Develops plans for effective communication, monitoring progress, and collaborating with general education teachers in inclusive settings.
• Develops safety, evacuation, and behavioral plans and oversees their implementation to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers to support a special education program.
• Maintains a schedule of daily and weekly service times aligned with IEP minutes and stakeholders.
• Maintains records and communicates grading procedures to stakeholders.
• Facilitates student learning through defined lesson plans and varied instructional techniques.
• Instructs students in academic subjects using multisensory and other diverse teaching methods.
• Maintains classroom discipline and supports a safe environment; collaborates with colleagues to support student needs.
• Models appropriate social and interpersonal behavior and promotes self-regulation and safety.
• Monitors students across educational settings to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
• Oversees scheduling of IEP meetings and the IEP process for caseloads to ensure compliance.
• Participates in meetings (professional development, IEP, team) to support student needs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure effective functioning of the work unit.
• Prepares written materials (IEP progress reports, grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document progress and meet requirements.
• Prepares materials and plans daily instruction with clear objectives for lessons, including accommodations and interventions.
