Assistant Professor Of Instruction In Korean Language
The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Northwestern University invites applications for a benefits-eligible, non-tenure track, full-time Assistant Professor of Instruction in Korean language to begin on September 1, 2027. The successful candidate will work with existing faculty members in the Korean Language Program and must be able to teach elementary to advanced Korean language for both heritage and non-heritage language learners.
Duties include a six-course teaching load (typically two per quarter) at all levels. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in foreign pedagogy, second language education, Korean language/linguistics, applied linguistics, or other related field, teaching experience in U.S. higher education, and native or near-native proficiency in both Korean and English.
Applicants must submit a cover letter, CV, evidence of teaching effectiveness (at least three representative course syllabi and teaching evaluations), teaching statement, and three letters of recommendation. For full consideration, an unedited video recording of the applicant's classroom teaching demonstration should be made available electronically. The expected base pay range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment, does not include summer salary, and is subject to negotiation.
