Department: WCAS Political Science The Department of Political Science at Northwestern University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in International Relations to begin on September 1, 2027. We seek candidates who will advance international relations scholarship and engage with important issues in contemporary world politics.
The successful applicant will teach a combination of graduate and undergraduate courses. A Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field, with International Relations training, is required. ABD applicants who anticipate completion of the doctorate by Fall 2027 will be considered. Applicants must provide a curriculum vitae, cover letter, writing sample, research statement, teaching statement, and three letters of recommendation.

Salary The expected base pay range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000. This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment, does not include summer salary, and is subject to negotiation. Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline;
departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
