The Academic Instructional Coach reports directly to the building principal. The academic instructional coach is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through analysis of student data, modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, supporting reflection, and providing actionable feedback to educators and building administrators. The instructional coach works collaboratively with educators and building administrators to help incorporate research-based instructional practices with a particular focus on accelerating the achievement for Black and Latinx students.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with educators and building/district administrators to ensure high-quality instruction using appropriate grade-level standards and culturally responsive teaching across disciplines.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the school, district, and community for the purpose of conveying and/or receiving information regarding instructional and culture programs.
  • Understands content standards, how various components of the curriculum link together, and how to use the curriculum in planning instruction and assessment to promote consistent curriculum implementation throughout a school.
  • Organizes and analyzes a variety of data to assist educators and building administrators in planning effective instruction, and creating practices and routines that support a positive and engaging classroom environment.
  • Builds capacity and empowers educators and building administrators by providing effective strategies, resources, materials, tools, information, etc.
  • Implements model lessons; observes educators; and facilitates conversations to support and improve instructional practices, classroom management, and relationships
  • Develop and implement coaching plans with teachers to ensure student improvement for the purpose of strengthening students learning and experience.
  • Communicates, implements, and demonstrates practices in instruction that are known to increase cognitive rigor and student engagement
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with teachers, building administrators, and students for the purpose of ensuring welcoming and rigorous learning environments.
  • Attends and actively participates in a variety of meetings and professional learning opportunities at the school and district level
  • Collaborates with instructional coaches across the district for the purpose of supporting colleagues and their impact in schools.
  • Performs other related duties including, but not limited to, planning and delivering other types of educational learning experiences (including professional learning series, workshops, team meetings, lesson study, etc.) and projects for the purpose of accelerating learning outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to program evaluation and curriculum review for the purpose of informing curriculum and material decisions.

In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Academic Instructional Coach must possess the following qualifications:

Education Required
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Experience Required
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing student achievement, utilizing a variety of approaches to meet all student's needs.

Minimum starting salary with Bachelors degree: $56,920 (includes District paid TRS pension) - pro-rated to start date

Minimum starting salary with Masters degree: $62,042 (includes District paid TRS pension)- pro-rated to start date
