Time Together Instructor

Pay rate: $17.05/Hour

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be available during regular business hours and occasional evenings and weekends
  • 1 year of previous experience working with children
Prerequisites for Employment
  • Pass both the Criminal and DCFS background checks
  • Pass drug and alcohol screen
  • Up to 3 hours of staff training
Hours

Varies, weekday mornings and some weekends up to 20 hrs/week.

General Task Statement

Responsible for the supervision of program participants, facilitation of activities, and the set up and take down of program equipment. Current program hours are on Mondays from 10:30 am-12:30 pm, and Tuesdays-Thursdays, 9 am-12 pm. Other one-off programming may be scheduled based on scheduled school days off and school breaks.

Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator and Division Manager

Essential Function(s) – Task Statements
  • Set up and take down equipment and materials needed for the program.
  • Greet and welcome children, caregivers, and families as they arrive.
  • Supervise the play area to ensure participant safety and adherence to program guidelines.
  • Engage with children and caregivers to create a fun, inclusive, and positive environment.
  • Answer questions about the program, registration, and community center offerings.
  • Monitor equipment and play areas to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are met.
  • Report any incidents, concerns, or maintenance issues to the Program Coordinator.
  • May assist with administration tasks related to the program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Specifications
  • Minimum Reasoning ability usually associated with this classification:
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
  • Minimum Language ability usually associated with this classification:
    • Read:
      Ability to read staff manuals, memoranda, and attendance sheets.
    • Write:
      Ability to complete daily log sheets, accident reports, incident reports, jump reports, first-aid reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, and style.
    • Speak:
      Ability to give verbal direction to subordinates, communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, citizens, and the public as well as other employers; speaking extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.
  • Amount of training, either on-the-job or formal education, usually associated with this occupation in addition to the Reasoning, Math and Language abilities detailed above:
    • Completed at least 1 year of high school
    • Complete all preseason training
  • Degree of Physical Demands (strength) usually associated with the essential functions of this classification:
    • acuity-far: clarity of vision at 20 feet or more
    • acuity-near: clarity of vision at 20 inches or less
    • depth perception: ability to judge distance and space relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are
    • field of vision- observing an area that can be seen up and in a given point
    • accommodation: adjustment of the lens of the eyes to bring an object into a sharp focus, especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from the eye
    • color vision: ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Working conditions usually associated with this classification:
    Ability to lift, kneel, bend, stand for long periods of time, identify or distinguish colors, and work outdoors at night with limited lighting
  • Environmental conditions (physical surroundings) usually associated with this classification:
