Cytotechnologist Shift/Hours

FT-days. 8am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5pm. Rotating Hours & locations. Must be willing to travel to all Hospital locations within the North Shore University Health System. They will not start training to rotate locations until 6-12mo. later - Mileage reimbursement is only offered if traveling in between two location in the same day. The frequency could be 0-2 times a week.

Internal Pay Scale

Min $33.75/hr. | Max $52.31/hr pay is based on years of experience.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Medical Director and Section Manager, Cytotechnologists are responsible for the evaluation and reporting of negative gynecological cases, evaluation and interpretation of abnormal gynecological, non-gynecological and fine needle aspiration cases. Cytotechnologist are responsible for identifying diagnostic material and referring cases to the pathologists appropriately. Serve as a member of the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) team providing on site adequacy evaluation of FNA procedures.

Provide technical advice and perform cyto-preparation and processing as needed. Must maintain records of screening slide counts and other activities. Maintain Quality Control records where indicated. Assist cytology management in gathering data relevant to quality assurance activities, continuous improvement activities and/or other special projects.

Must Haves
  • License: N/A
  • Certification:
    Cytotechnologist, CT (ASCP) certification, Thin Prep certification required
Experience

Must be a recent Cytotechnology graduate or have recent Hospital-based experience. Must have recent cyto-preparation experience and Fine Needle Aspiration Adequacy Assessment experience. Must have recent Gynecologic, Non-gynecologic and Fine Needle Aspiration evaluation experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in either Cytotechnology, Biology, or Life Sciences. AND successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program.

Preferred

3-5 years previous clinical CYTOGENETICS/MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTIC experience
