Position Overview
Provides direction to and supervises nurses and certified nurse’s aides in delivering health care to children and families within Maryville Academy’s Children’s Healthcare Program. Requires advanced knowledge in nursing and consistent judgment under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and the Medical Director.
Essential Functions- Follows all Maryville standard policies and procedures and the program's operating procedures.
- Complies with weekly budget, monitors and orders laundry, medical supplies.
- Monitors the program to ensure that youth receive appropriate treatment in a safe and nurturing family environment.
- Participates in the selection interview process and makes recommendations for hiring and placement of new employees.
- Arrives on time for scheduled hours and nursing report.
- Creates and manages the staff schedule, covering shifts as needed.
- Recertifies and ensures all staff recertify CPR, TB screen, and physical as required by policy.
- Ensures staff documents in clinical records all assessments, medical training for family members, client changes, and procedures at least every three hours.
- Ensures processing of orders for all children within two hours of order being received.
- Provides patient care according to the job description of a Registered Nurse when needed.
- Facilitates a full social history on all children, adolescents, and young adults within 24 hours of admission.
- Documents reason for delays/refusal and facilitates completion of social history assessment within 24 hours of admission or on Monday following weekend admissions.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of a certified Registered Nurse Program.
- Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Illinois.
- CPR certified.
- Experience in pediatric, emergency care, or hospital nursing preferred.
- One year of supervisor experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to access plans and evaluate patient care.
- Ability to identify sudden adverse developments in patient condition.
- Knowledge of disease processes.
- Ability to perform various nursing procedures such as trach suctioning and GT feedings.
- Frequently sit, stand, bend, stoop, and walk, sometimes for extended periods.
- Lift or move objects weighing in excess of 20 pounds.
- Sufficient visual, hearing, and learning capabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Work performed in designated administrative office and clinical settings.
- Duties may involve contact with youth who may be threatening, aggressive, and/or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary.
- May be scheduled to work on weekends and/or holidays.
Pay Range: $75,
