Location:

Evanston Hospital, Evanston, IL

Full Time (average of 40 hours/wk.)

Hours:

Monday – Friday, 7:30AM – 4:00PM; rotating on‑call coverage for work‑related exposures and ILI symptom screenings during non‑business hours; required travel to Glenbrook and Swedish Hospitals Outpatient Role.

Hourly Pay Range: $57.76 – $80.86.

Job Description

Under the direction of collaborating physician(s), provides system‑wide clinical leadership and direct patient care to support the health, safety, and productivity of the Endeavor Health workforce. Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats complex occupational health injuries and illnesses across the Endeavor Health system. Manages high‑risk and complex cases such as needle stick injuries, communicable disease exposures, and fitness concerns. Performs and interprets physical assessments, diagnostics, and screenings.

Provides diagnosis, treatment, and referrals in accordance with APP scope of practice. Conducts fitness‑for‑duty evaluations, return‑to‑work clearances, and post‑offer/pre‑placement evaluations, as needed. Determines and manages temporary and permanent work restrictions. Leads medical surveillance programs (respirator clearance, TB, vaccine compliance). Functions independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, serving as a clinical resource to drive standardization, reduce lost time, and support the well‑being of Endeavor Health team members.

Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promotes high‑quality patient experience. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals. Supports the strategic plan of the organization. Adheres to all Endeavor Health policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret physical assessments, diagnostics, and screenings.
  • Provide diagnosis, treatment, and referrals within APP scope of practice.
  • Conduct fitness‑for‑duty evaluations, return‑to‑work clearances, and pre‑placement evaluations.
  • Determine and manage temporary and permanent work restrictions.
  • Lead medical surveillance programs: respirator clearance, TB, vaccine compliance.

Qualifications
  • License:
    Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required;
    Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required.
  • Education:

    Completion of master’s level program in specialty area.
  • Certification: BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Experience:

    Prior APN/PA experience highly preferred.
Special Knowledge and Skills
  • Certified in Urine Drug Screening, Breath Alcohol Testing, and Hair Drug Screening procedures (at time of hire or within 3 months of hire).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience; occupational/employee health experience, primary care, emergency/urgent care strongly preferred.
