Job Description

The Painter is responsible for applying preparatory materials, paints, and stains to walls, ceilings, equipment, and furniture throughout assigned locations and projects. This position may require some traveling between four legacy sites within the healthcare system.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $30.00.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains a friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co‑workers.
  • Anticipates and responds to customer needs.
  • Applies protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, and other related materials to a variety of interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Washes, scrapes, sands, torches, and smooths interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains drywall, wall texturing, and ceiling acoustic texturing.
  • Erects scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks to reach surfaces of work area for painters and others.
  • Determines appropriate color for new or replacement applications through consultation with customers and maintains existing paint surfaces through matching and tinting.
  • Prepares and implements line striping layouts for streets and parking lots according to department requirements.
  • Identifies, handles, and appropriately disposes of paints, stains, preparatory and undercoating materials, and other hazardous materials, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in painting or an equivalent role is required.
  • Proven knowledge of painting and finishing techniques, hazardous materials handling, application, and disposal.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Demands: This role may involve lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking and standing. Uniforms and/or personal protective equipment (PPE) may also be required.
