Job Description:
Resident Life Assistant
The Resident Life Assistant (RLA) position is a unique leadership opportunity for Seminary students to create an intentional, caring, and welcoming community for Seminary residents, in addition to assisting students with concerns maintenance, safety, or connecting with resources in the community.
The RLA participates in an evening and weekend on-call rotation, which promotes safety, security, policy enforcement, and general resident support; assists with annual operational processes such as building tours for prospective residents, student move-in and move-out; and supports/promotes Student Affairs and Seminary programming including but not limited to New Student Orientation, Spring and Fall Welcome Week, and signature events such as Let's Talk Careers and Let's Talk Globally.
Additionally, the RLA is the primary point of contact for campus visitors staying in on-campus guest housing. The RLA will work closely with Student Affairs staff to ensure that guests have a welcoming and positive experience during their stay on campus.
Hours:
There is no set schedule. The successful applicant should expect to be available regularly on evenings and weekends and must commit to being on campus during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, and for all or some of break periods, including winter, spring, and summer break.
Compensation:
The RLA is provided with a total annual stipend of $6750 dispersed on the following schedule:
• Fall Semester: $2000
• Winter Break: $750
• Spring Semester: $2000
• Summer Semester: $2000
Additionally, the RLA receives a 50% housing waiver. The RLA is responsible for all remaining housing costs.

Essential job functions and responsibilities:
• Guest Housing
o Support visitors staying in campus guest housing
• Greet after-hour arrivals and assist them with accessing their accommodation
• Provide after-hours support in the case of lockouts or maintenance concerns
• Retrieve keys from rooms after guest check-out
o Work with Student Affairs staff to ensure that guest rooms are ready for incoming visitors
• Check that room amenities are present and in working order
• Check that rooms have been cleaned
• Administrative and Operational Responsibilities
o Serve as a liaison to students and administrative offices and collaborate with campus partners
o Attend regularly scheduled RA staff meetings and individual meetings with the Assistant Director of Student Affairs
o Attend Student Affairs student employee retreats and training days in Fall and Spring semester
o Assist with operational processes such as resident move-in and move-out, New Student Orientation, and Welcome Week
o Assist with residence hall and apartment tours for prospective residents
• Safety and Security/On-Call Responsibilities
o Serve in a duty rotation to promote safety, security, policy enforcement, and general resident support and well-being within the residence halls and apartments during weeknights (4:00pm - 9:00am) and weekends (24 hours)
o Perform duty responsibilities, including rounds of buildings, assist with lockouts, assisting residents with maintenance concerns, and confronting and documenting policy violations or inappropriate behavior.
o Enforce safety rules and regulations such as noise concerns, property damage, fire safety, and other potential policy violations in a consistent and professional manner.
• The RLA may also be asked to assist residents with these items during times when they are not on duty, as appropriate within role expectations
o Appropriately document all incidents using duty logs, incident reports, and maintenance requests as needed. Notify Assistant Director of Student Affairs of events as appropriate.
