Scope Of PositionSupport the maintenance needs of Camp Gifford. All employees are part of the "team" that works for the benefit of the campers.
Education And Work Experience- Experience working with children preferred
- Kitchen experience preferred
- Able to maintain cleanliness & safety standards for kitchen and food services
- Possess good leadership skills and ability to assist other staff
- Good verbal communication skills
- Must be knowledgeable in the areas of children/personnel safety assessment, planning, problem solving, and crisis intervention
- Be able to pass a child safety background check
- Maintain cleanliness and order in your person and living quarters
- Assist with cleanup of the total camp at the end of teaching session and at the conclusion of the summer
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings
- Participate in all camp programs as required
- Follow guidelines given during orientation regarding standards for program, safety, and health concerns
- Ensure daily garbage removal to include weekly or periodic “dump runs”
- Make recommendations for building and ground repair
- Cutting of lawns and grass and keeping all grounds looking attractive
- Sweep cement surfaces
- Help keep garbage area clean and orderly
- Keep supply of campfire wood. Start and extinguish campfire on nights when campfire is needed
- Sweep, mop, disinfect, and deodorize Clean Goebel, Cedar Circle, and Peaceful Pines Bathrooms daily
- Periodically check bathrooms to ensure they are kept in proper order
- Check multipurpose room (chapel) daily, straightening chairs, sweeping, litter, etc.
- Take care of Camp Gifford equipment and tools
- Assist with dining hall maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned
- Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
- Operate a telephone
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
