Position: POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR.

Overview

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

  • Qualifications: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Group
    . Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
  • The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise.
Job Elements
  • Knowledge of principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered support systems
  • Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel and gasoline engines; ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of operation of emergency generator power systems; ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications; ability to plan and organize work assignments, including determining resources required to accomplish mission
  • Knowledge of records maintenance and documentation; knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; knowledge of use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring/test equipment common to trades supervised
  • Skill in reading, interpreting, and using wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, and technical publications; knowledge of Government Purchase Card Program; safety, environmental, prevention hazardous waste, confined space programs; aircraft foreign object debris prevention
  • Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of supervised trades; personnel management policies and equal employment opportunity concepts; ability to utilize GO81 data collection system to schedule, clear, update, provide status, and forecast equipment requirements
