Jefferson County Public Works is seeking applicants for Road Maintenance Technician I or II position. Duties include using various trucks and equipment to repair pavement surfaces, clean ditches and culverts, plow snow, trim trees, cut brush and grass, etc. Job requires physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions & after-hours callouts for emergency or storm-related events.
Road Maintenance Technician I
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and demonstrated experience in temporary traffic control, road maintenance, construction work or customer service; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
Compensation: RMT I, Teamsters Grade A5-A position, starting pay typically $23.69 per hour, range: $23.69 to $29.20 per hour. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Plus 11 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave. May include evening and weekend hours.
Road Maintenance Technician II
Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and Minimum of two (2) years' experience in road maintenance or construction work of a similar nature including two years' experience in truck driving or equipment operating or traffic control supervision; or, Minimum of two (2) years as a Road Maintenance Technician I; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid WA State CDL Class A is preferred but not required.
CDL training may be provided.
Compensation: RMT II, Teamsters Grade A5-B position, starting pay typically $26.13 per hour, full pay range: $26.13 to $32.16 per hour. Full medical benefits, including dental and vision. Retirement provided through Washington State DRS. Plus 11 paid holidays, PTO, and bereavement leave. May include evening and weekend hours.
Road Maintenance Technicians help maintain 400 miles of roads that link the Jefferson County Community to homes, jobs, businesses and recreational opportunities. The position is responsible for the labor, truck and equipment operation necessary to perform various road maintenance tasks.
Duties include:
- Mowing county rights-of-way
- Snow and ice control
- Patching roads
- Cleaning culverts
- Performing temporary traffic control (flagging)
- Removing trees
- Picking up litter
Applicants should also have the ability to work well in a team environment; have great communication and customer-service skills; and, be eager to work each day.
Work Week
Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday
Work shift is 6:00AM – 4:30PM
The interview process will include a skills test.
