Third grade teachers at Queen of Martyrs School are responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating instructional content, ensuring students meet academic and religious development goals in a faith‑based environment.
General Responsibilities- Teach in accordance with Catholic doctrine and moral teachings.
- Serve as a role model for religious formation and represent the Archbishop of Chicago and the Catholic Church.
- Adhere to the school’s mission, philosophy, objectives, and policies.
- Complete Catholic Identity Formation training and other required professional development.
- Lead or participate in religious instruction, ceremonies, rituals, or other religious activities as directed by the principal.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and the principal.
- Participate in required professional development programs.
- Perform teaching duties as assigned.
- Attend faculty and staff meetings.
- Cooperate with the principal and staff in school‑related meetings, activities, and projects.
- Maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.
- Participate in the annual performance review.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
- Positively represent the school/parish in all events, including extracurricular activities, and in the general public.
- Perform any specific tasks essential to the position as assigned by the principal.
- Practicing Catholic (preferred; required for religion teachers).
- Compliance with safe environment requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred, not required).
- Completion of Catholic Identity Formation training.
Documentation required with application: transcripts, resume, teaching licensure (PEL) if applicable, acceptance in alternative licensure program, professional references.
The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including competitive compensation. Salary range: $38,527–$68,776 for a lay employee and $35,686–$62,316 for a religious employee.
