Primary Responsibilities

The Assistant Branch Manager must be able to function in the varied jobs and positions assigned to that branch. The Assistant Branch Manager must be able to manage all duties and responsibilities assigned to that branch. Specific areas of knowledge are:

  • Loan and Financial Counseling
  • Manage all monetary and operational risk controls
  • Audit cash management controls
  • Supervision of Branch Staff
  • Training Support of Branch Staff
  • Opening and Closing of Branch Office
Responsibilities
  • See that the office is opened and closed in accordance with established hours of business
  • Manage daily staffing schedules
  • Decision loans, provide financial counsel by adhering to Vicinity Credit Union guidelines
  • Care for the physical maintenance of the office including all furniture, fixtures, and equipment
  • Properly train the staff in all phases of established duties and Vicinity Credit Union policies
  • Be available to members in answering any and all questions or problems regarding Vicinity Credit Union services and to do this in an enlightened, friendly and knowledgeable manner
  • See that all branch funds are properly safeguarded and accounted for
  • Provide daily complete, accurate, timely reports and summaries of daily business transactions to the central office
  • Prepare Teller and UPFR’s performance appraisals and disciplinary notices as needed
  • Keep an open line of communication with the branch manager and other department managers
  • Ensure audit controls are followed to protect the credit union from unnecessary risk & exposure
  • Collaborate in the hiring, training and retention of Retail staff
  • Meet deadlines and ensures that branch reports and tasks are completed with accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned by Management
  • Travel between branches will be required
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor s degree in related field or equivalent financial institution industry experience
  • At least one year of branch supervision experience
  • At least one year of operations experience
Knowledge/Skill/Abilities
  • Excellent math skills and basic accounting knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to work well with others
  • Trustworthy and ability to work with integrity
  • Exhibit competency in using current technology, such as computer, calculator, etc. necessary to complete required and miscellaneous responsibilities
  • Great customer service skills
  • Knowledge of credit union practice and regulations
  • Detail oriented and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to problem solve and take initiative
  • Be reliable
  • Strong decision-making skills to effectively resolve member and employee issues
  • Ability to build morale and commitment to goals and objectives
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills required to manage, motivate, and develop employees
  • Uphold confidentiality and member privacy in all situations
  • Proactively seeks solutions that benefit the member and the credit union while exhibiting sound and accurate judgement
  • Knowledge of all types of credit union services
  • Ability to remain professional and composed under pressure
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software programs
Physical Demands

Nature of the work requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing at a desk working in front of a computer and operation standard office equipment. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Working Environment

The majority of the work performed will be in an office environment.
