DescriptionThe Town of Exeter is currently seeking a full-time Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technician for its Water & Sewer Department. The individual will be responsible for operating and maintaining the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and chemical systems of pump stations. The role requires understanding the principles associated with pumps, motors, controls, valves, pipes, and power sources; reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, drawings, and service bulletins;
preparing and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment as specified; troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, chemical or control system malfunctions; and following oral and written instructions and communicating effectively. The candidate shall establish a working knowledge of applicable state, local, and federal regulations, procedures, and statutes, and clearly and concisely articulate relevant information regarding scheduled and emergency maintenance operations, including snow plowing.
Knowledge of water and wastewater maintenance operations equivalent to completion of a high school diploma with advanced courses from a two-year college or technical school and one to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid State of New Hampshire CDL Class B driver’s license with air brakes and a good driving record.
Must obtain a NH Water Works Operator Certification, Distribution Grade 1, within six months of hire, and NEWEA Collection System Operator Certification, Grade 1, within twelve months of hire.
