Position Summary
Dock Crew member who works with a team of 6 to 8 dock workers to unload fish and freight from incoming tender vessels, maintain and operate cranes, forklifts, and other cargo handling equipment, and support the beach gang in constructing, maintaining, and repairing facility docks.
Responsibilities- Mooring and tying up vessels to the dock.
- Operating fish pumps to unload fish from vessels.
- Maintaining safety training and emergency reaction plans for hazardous spills, fires, and other emergencies.
- Operating cranes, forklifts, and other machinery as required.
- Performing training and continuing work at the plant.
- Ensuring dock operations meet environmental and safety regulations and policies.
- Keeping and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
- Assisting other departments as needed.
- Providing reliable and predictable attendance.
- Willingness and ability to work with other departments in a team atmosphere as time allows.
- Ability to live and work in confined quarters in a multicultural environment.
- Professional conduct representing North Pacific Seafoods with the highest standards.
- Capacity to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Excellent ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, loaders, and cranes.
- Preferred experience with crane and hoist operation.
- Basic understanding of fish pumps, water pumps, hydraulic and other mechanical items.
- Physical and mental ability to work and live in a remote area of Alaska.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Carpentry and general maintenance skills helpful.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and willingness to follow safety protocols.
- Common knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of basic knots and line splicing.
- Availability to work 12–16 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Qualified applicants must be 18 years old.

- Current driver’s license.
- Hourly wage of $18.41 with overtime eligibility after 8 regular hours per day and 40 per week (Alaska law).
- Transportation provided by RSC from the nearest international airport to the work location and back at season completion.
- Room and board provided on site.

Work involves daily exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and noise. Physical risks include hazards from machinery, chemicals, and electricity. The role requires standing for extended periods, walking around the plant, lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds, and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to inspect equipment. Visual, auditory, and communication skills are essential. The work environment can be stressful and demanding.
ImportantConsiderations
This work can be hard, monotonous, and boring, and cell phones often have limited service in remote Alaska. GCI and AT&T are the most reliable; T‑Mobile and Verizon work sporadically. Applicants must be available for the full season.
