Pad Mechanic

Pad Mechanic

Provides technical labor and equipment operation support for the Heap Leach department. Assists with pad lay-out, pipe fusing and pump maintenance. Has experience with metal fabrication; welding, cutting, etc. Checks flows, pressures and performs general cleanup. Will operate equipment such as dozers, loaders, skid-steers and excavators. Must comply with all company safety regulations, operation requirements, and efficiency levels while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for repair and maintenance of pumping and piping systems.
• Designs and constructs heap leach pads including road building, piping and drip tube installation.
• Performs equipment walk around, inspects and operates equipment.
• Perform ground and facility maintenance including but not limited to snow removal and general cleanup.
• Perform small equipment and machine checks and repairs.
• Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
• Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
• Possession of a valid driver license issued by the state.
• Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
• Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Employee must have sufficient education to read and write, perform simple mathematics, and maintain neat and accurate records.
• Experience in building, site, and shop maintenance/cleanup preferred.
• Experience operating small equipment such as forklifts, skid-steers, and loaders preferred.
• Ability to work without constant, direct supervision.
• Involves lifting and moving various materials in weights up to 50 or more pounds, climbing up and down stairs, and working in an outdoors environment.
• Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions required.
• Must have solid verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and understand repair manuals.
• Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
• Adheres to all safety and environmental considerations.
• Have a strong commitment to safe working practices.
• Wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times while in the production environment.
• Is alert and observes, corrects, and reports unsafe conditions.
• Follows operating procedures and complies with all regulatory requirements.
