Student Housing Cleaning Crew – Academic Year 2025/2026
University of Alaska (UAS) – Part‑time; hourly wage $14.96/hr.
This role provides custodial support for Student Housing residents and Conference Housing guests. Cleaning Crew student assistants receive on‑site training covering equipment, chemical usage, and hazardous materials. The position is physically demanding, requiring walking across varied terrain and carrying loads of 25–50 pounds.
Responsibilities• Perform custodial duties in student and conference housing facilities.
• Follow safety protocols and use equipment and chemicals as trained.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and guests.
QualificationsStrong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse individuals.
Conflict mediation and sound judgment in decision‑making.
Organizational skills and efficient task completion.
Physical ability to perform demanding tasks.
Prior cleaning or custodial experience preferred.
Minimum two semesters of community living experience preferred but not required.
EligibilityApplicants must complete all UAS employee Required Training (including Safety training, Title IX, Protection of minors, Campus Security Authority, and FERPA) within two weeks of hire date.
To be eligible for student employment, applicants must:
- Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester; or
- Have been enrolled in the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and
- Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, be in good academic standing, or have approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or its designee.
- Students enrolled in non‑traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
- Provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
A valid driver's license is preferred and a clean driving record is required under UA Safe Driving Criteria.
Position DetailsLocation:
UAS campus, Juneau. This is a part‑time, non‑exempt Student Level 2 position. The starting wage is $14.96/hr.
