Job Type: Full-Time (Non‑Exempt)

The Foreperson ensures the productivity of daily operations, working closely with management to determine recruiting and hiring needs, set deadlines, and enforce safety protocols among the crew. The role involves troubleshooting routine job‑site issues, engaging all employees and contractors in required training, and managing and mentoring the crew.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work for the crew after receiving orders from a General Foreperson or Line Clearance Supervisor.
  • Conduct field training and retraining, instructing crew on new or revised job units.
  • Enforce safe work practices and conduct safety training in accordance with company policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Discuss access, power interruption, work scope, and responsibility for property damage with owners; refer controversial cases to the General Foreperson.
  • Obtain oral or written permission from property owners to perform required work.
  • Promote good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work and appropriate crew conduct.
  • Investigate incident reports, damage claims, and settle minor damage claims when delegated authority is granted.
  • Maintain accurate records, timesheets, and reports related to crew performance.
  • Control crew costs by optimizing labor, methods, and equipment usage.
  • Report order completion, units of work, crew time, and repair distributions to the General Foreperson and utility representative.
  • Provide periodic reports on incidents, truck breakdowns, private property damage, new employee follow‑up, and other operational matters.
  • Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
  • Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and safeguard the public.
  • Inspect and perform necessary repairs on tools, trucks, and equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations.
  • Ensure DOT maintenance and inspection requirements are met for all required vehicles.
  • Stay informed on new equipment, specifications, standard practices, and company policies; request repairs or replacements as needed.
Qualifications
  • Understanding of drawings and symbols representing lines, voltages, and line equipment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multi‑task.
  • Capability to adjust to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision.
  • Ability to drive an approved company vehicle safely.
  • Ability to work with hands above head for extended periods.
  • Physical condition does not exceed approximately 300 pounds.
  • No fear of heights.
Education & Experience
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3,120 hours of experience in the line clearance industry.
Physical Requirements
  • RARE (≤10%): crawling, climbing, gripping, lifting up to 50 lb.
  • OCCASIONAL (≤33%): standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body‑twisting, manual dexterity, lifting/handling over 10 lb to 50 lb, reaching, balancing.
  • FREQUENT (≤66%): walking, sitting, climbing on/off truck, reading, lifting up to 10 lb.
  • CONTINUOUS (≤100%): speaking clearly, vision, hearing, depth perception, color vision.
