Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join its growing North American Service Team.
This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex automated machinery, working directly with customers, and traveling to support equipment installations and service activities throughout North America.
During the onboarding period, the successful candidate will work closely with the current Field Service Manager
, gaining exposure to customer management, service planning, and internal processes, with the opportunity to progressively take on broader responsibilities within the service organization.
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize pharmaceutical processing and packaging equipment at customer facilities.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and machine performance evaluations.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-related issues independently.
- Support equipment qualification and validation activities within regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
- Provide technical support remotely and on-site to minimize customer downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering, technical support, and manufacturing teams in both the United States and Italy.
- Attend technical training programs in the U.S. and internationally as required.
- Prepare accurate service reports, technical documentation, and customer visit summaries.
- During the training period, shadow the Field Service Manager to learn service planning, customer relationship management, and team coordination.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the future growth of the North American service organization.
- Provide emergency customer support, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary to support 24/7 pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
- 5+ years of experience servicing automated industrial machinery in a field service environment.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Solid electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley preferred; B&R is a plus).
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve equipment failures.
- Experience servicing pharmaceutical processing or packaging equipment is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of equipment qualification and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) within regulated pharmaceutical environments.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout North America during the training period.
- Valid driver's license and valid passport.
Experience with one or more of the following equipment:
- Capsule filling machines
- Tablet presses
- Pharmaceutical processing equipment
- High-speed automated machinery
The following experience is considered a plus:
- FANUC or other industrial robotics
- Servo systems
- Motion control systems
