Position Title: Part-Time Janitorial Maintenance Worker
Employment Status: Part-Time (20 hours weekly)
Reports To: City Manager

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of municipal buildings and facilities. Performs routine cleaning and light maintenance to ensure public spaces, offices, restrooms, and meeting areas remain sanitary and welcoming.

High school diploma or GED preferred

Must pass background check, physical exam, and drug screening

Janitorial/custodial experience preferred but not required

Ability to perform physical job duties

Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, kitchens, meeting rooms, and common areas

Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces

Clean sinks, countertops, appliances, windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces

Empty trash and recycling; replace liners and clean receptacles

Disinfect high-touch surfaces

Maintain janitorial closet and equipment in safe, clean, working condition

Use and handle cleaning chemicals safely and wear required PPE

Perform light maintenance (e.g., replace light bulbs, HVAC filters)

Report maintenance issues, hazards, or damaged equipment

Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings and events

Maintain supply inventory and request needed materials

Follow all safety procedures and regulations

Perform other related duties as assigned

Ability to communicate clearly (written and verbal)

Ability to work independently and make sound judgments

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Ability to push/pull carts and equipment

Ability to work indoors and occasionally outdoors in varying conditions

Strong communication and customer service skills

Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment (or willingness to learn)

Dependable, punctual, and consistent

Hourly wage based on qualifications and experience per municipal pay schedule.
